I have a never used or installed Ford 8.8 from a ford expedition thats been stored away in my garage, it was purchased from ford and never used. I was looking into what it would to take to build it for a stock width xj its about 10 inches too wide. But the axles are huge. where the bearing rides it measures 1.705" compared to the explorers 1.290"? Has anyone done this I think it would be a badass axle, but is it worth the effort?

I've watched it with a thought of doing what you're doing. Decided I didn't need it, but it is a very thorough walkthrough on narrowing an 8.8.
