Default Ford 56" leaf spring swap with a twist

So I am tired of dealing with XJ spring packs. I am looking to swap a heavier set of springs in, but I do not want to push my rear axle back. I am not looking to do a bastard pack or anything of the sort as the upper leaf seems to fail just as often as anything else in XJ packs.

I have been looking at ranger/explorer packs as those are what I am used to with the vehicles I normally deal with and they tend to not fail out wheeling.

XJ leaf springs are 23" in front of the bolt and 28 5/8" past for a 52" leaf with a 655 cap. Expo are 25 11/16 in front of the bolt and 31" past for a 56" leaf with 1100-1200lbs cap's. They are known to lift about 4" which is about what I want.

Now if I push the forward mount forward the roughly 2-3" and mount the rear wherever it needs for proper shackle angle am I going to hit the bumper and am I missing anything in my plan? I am already going to be removing both sets of leaf spring mounts to plate the framerail when I go to replace the floor and install the rear 8.8" I have laying around.

Yup that is the kind of thing I was looking for. Thanks I had actually thought about doing chevy 63's, but thought there would be to much behind the axle to clear the bumper

Go buy deavers or clayton was the extent of my answer until someone finally just answered the question instead of questioning the reason.

The 63s were not that hard to fit esp if you trim the bumper

I am building a swing out tire bumper for it so I should be able to just build around. Considering the 56's are only an inch shorter to the rear the 64's kind of make sense...

I also stretched mine like 5" to get away from the pinch seam at the back door so yours will be farther forward if you don't plan on stretching it

From your pics it looks like there is still plenty of room. I am not in the pinch seam now and will be bumpstopping more to prevent issues.

I don't want to exceed 4" of lift so uptravel isn't as important to me as the downtravel.

Good to know that's about the same as expo leafs. I might sit a little tall if I install a shackle relocation box.
