Ford 4.6 liter injectors?

Will ford 4.6 liter injectors work on my 4.0?

Outlaw Star 06-24-2014 10:11 AM

Yes. I was using 5.4L ones on my 4.9L striker motor.

Will I have to make any modificatons? Will they work as good as the ones for a 5.0?

They are still in the engine. Its a 4.6 from a crown vic. Wanted to know if the were an easy swap so that I can take them out.

Yes, it's a direct swap. Ford uses the same style connector. So do 80's TPI Chevys.

Whats the difference between the 4.6 injector to the 5.0 injector?

The body style (really that's it). The 5.0L injectors use the older style 2-piece metal/plastic body, the 4.6L injectors uses the "newer-style" 1-piece all plastic body (which is a bit slimer).
Both have 4-hole nozzles and are rated at 19lb/hr.

What vehicle has the 17# injectors? And what would that become for our jeep 4.0l? I know some say the 19# is too much fuel for a stock 4.0L which makes me wonder what the final lbs and such would be for a 17# injector

This swap is well documented. I've done it on my '94 and it made a huge difference (but I was replacing stock injectors with 240k on them). I used a set of Bosch 700/710s. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator as well, which is recommended on early motors.

19# isn't too much, just swap the regulator on pre-95 or 96 engines and you'll be golden.

I have a 94 Sport with 19# injectors waiting to go in, what regulator should be used?
