FlexFan, thoughts?
Ok I just upgraded the fan clutch for the heavy duty version and it's working fine, but the shroud broke due to age and being brittle. suggest where to buy one?
So I was thinking, Ditch the mechanical fan all together and go electric.
Yeah... 3000cfm for $300. Not sure If I want to swallow that cost so early into owning the XJ yet.
The next idea, how about a flexfan, quality of course like Derale. Does anyone here use a flexfan?
Does it keep everything cool enough?
If so care to share which one, price and maybe a LINK/picture?
And for those who say don't do it... Please explain.
thanks!!
PS, Noise does not bother me... As long as it's beneficial. for lack a better word.
PSS I'll do a how to install the fan clutch later tonight.

I read an article in car craft a few years ago. They compared clutch, flex, and elec fans. Flex was the loser for power and cooling ability. Either get electric or get a shroud. I bet you can find new shrouds on eBay for $25 or less.

Never a flex fan, you get into a little water and it will "flex" right into your radiator. Taurus fan all the way. Put a switch inline for a shutoff for water crossings too.

great info, thanks!
as for the replacement shroud...
It's the waiting for it that bothers me.
I'll try the junk yard tomorrow for the Taurus fan but what years work/fit?
