Flat style flares, would you buy?pay?
im going to make some flat style flares for my xj. im going to make them out of metal ( i work in a custon sheet metal shop) they will look like other flat flares except they will be thinner looking from side (unless i put a half inch down bend on,not sure yet) I have access to a laser cutter and could make a bunch of perfect copies.
im going do it to mine and when i get done post pics, but i wanted to know how many people would want some and what they would think is fair price for a set (front and rear)? please tell me only if your sure you'd be interested (not saying you have to buy but really want to and could pay if you liked them) so i can get an idea how many ill need and what itll cost me to make.
my install idea is to trim fender like other style flare but also probably have to cut n fold rear corner, then rivet on. they will be 18g stainless or 14-16g mild steel.

I'd really like this. but only if it costs less than a set of bushwackers ($400 somethin?)
my xj isnt ready for this upgrade yet, but down the road I would absolutely buy a set
ESPECIALLY if they were designed long enough to be able to be welded on to rocker/bumper

Metal flat flares sounds iffy....my bushwackers get the **** kicked out of them, I think the metal would deform over time

this is what I'm thinkin right here
looks like he used double tubing for his
but something similar would be great

just flares that have the option of being welded to the rocker and bumper.
seewhatImean?
I would rather buy a tastefully designed and machined flare like that instead of deal with fabbing 4 identical ones myself

yeah something that starts with a tube and then has steel filler/spacing to reach the fender so it sticks out far enough to cover the tread
just a more tasteful design tho
thats the image I had in my head when he said flat style
in that case, I agree that flat style would easily bend on the rocks

I was thinking of flat sheet metal not tube. They wouldnt take running in to a tree or something like that, theyd bend but if your not running into trees and want some extra rock chip and mud protection i think theyll be good. Ill just make them and post pics within a few weeks.

I contemplated making some out of flat metal last year but used 1/2 inch thick rubber instead. The rubber has hit so many trees it's cut up broke and needs replacing now. The metal would bend the first time off road.
