fender trimming...

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/x...imming-854713/

link shows how to do the rears real nicely but how far can you trim up and fold over before you reach the welds and split the rear quarters apart?

how clean does trimming fronts and rears really look? ive seen plenty of pics but nothing in person to see how clean it really looks. also if you do trim up can you do fender flares later? does it effect your selection of flares?

You will def be able to tell you trimmed the rears. I have never seen a rear trim job turn out perfect.

The fronts look great trimmed imo.

Mine turned out excellent, but it has herculiner on and that hides alot of imperfections.

Something like this needs to be done. Some spray on bed liner and people won't be able to tell too easily. Flares will help cover it too.

so i'm definitely going to end up doing this b/c it looks cool and i love flexing the jeep out! how hard are the police on you about not having fender flares? im in jersey and have seen a few trucks riding around without any but who knows how they make out.

You can safely trim up to the body line that is shown in the write up. There is no pinch weld and I'm not too sure where people are getting that idea from. The only welds are the spot welds that you cut between to make the little "flaps". If you cut higher than in the picture you will be cutting above the inner wheel well and will require some fabrication of the wheel wells.

Someone made a great suggestion to me before I did mine. Your second side will almost definitely turn out noticeably better than the first so start on your passenger side. You see your driver side everyday so it makes sense you would want it to look better.

Take your time and it will turn out well. Re-mounting the flares is damn near impossible so keep that in mind. I got so fed up with trying to re-mount them I decided to run without them and it looks so much better that way. However that is my opinion and I also folded up the rear quarter so it was flush with the bottom of the tail lights.
