fender triming

Ok so because I got scolded in the totm fender triming thread ill just ask the question I can't seem to get a clear answere on lol. My lower quarters are rusted so I can't really do the cut and fold thing. Will it be ok if I just just it off all togeather and just fold the wheel opening part? This is on my 92 xj

it will leave it open to your interior

I was wondering this too...

Maybe just cut that section off and weld a flat panel in there to close it up?

you can cut a good amount off. there is a piece on the inside that folds outward and the lower 1/4 folds over top of that

Here is what he is referring to. I had some serious cancer on the bottoms as well. I cut almost 3-4 inches from the sheet and still had enough left over to fold the inner pannel out and burn it in. This pic was before I finished it.

Or you can just chop it off and weld a piece of sheet metal in there like I did if yyou have access to a welder.

Yea it looks like one side will be cut n fold the other will either have a peice welded in or use like a mud flap from a semi or some other thick rubber to close up that hole. A buddy suggested I just get the quarter armor from jrc cut the cancer out and weld the armor inplace. Lol I guess ill fig something out. Thanks for the info y'all.
