Default Fender flares installation

I got a set of bushwackers cut out flares for my 4 door 98'. However, I don't have the dog leg, since I got them used. Do I absolutely need them for the rear installation?
Thanks guys

Sweet. Thanks dude.

Also, this is kind of a dumb question, but when drilling into sheet metal, what's the best way to keep the bit from "walking" around? Like when instead of staying in the spot you start, it drifts off taking the paint off. Is it best just to apply enough pressure to the drill?

Is that the tool that has a handle that looks like a screwdriver but the end comes to a sharp point?

Ahhh, ok great. Just put that where you want a hole and drive it in with a hammer?

The automatic ones are nice, you don't need a hammer. Just push the housing in towards the panel, it loads up tension, and then you keep pushing till it "pops" and punches.

I bought mine used too and never had the dog leg that the instructions talk about. I had plans to paint the small portion of body that is hidden by the rear flare when the door is closed with bed liner or something to make it look a little better but never got around to it.
