Fender Flares
Im new to this and forums in general so Im not totally sure this is in the right place so here goes... Im looking to buy a late model xj in the near future and am planning on at least a 4.5in lift and maybe 35s, but later on with some spacers so I know ill be doing some fender trimming but I'd still like a flare out there, so what Im asking is could I still run bushwacker flat flares with considerably trimmed fenders?

I run 3.5" and 33's with Napier flares with no rubbing. I also ran 35's for a bit with no rubbing until I didn't like my tranny temps pushing them in the summer months. So I swapped my 33's off my YJ onto the XJ

If you buy an earlier than 97 xj, iirc you can reuse the flares. I don't think its as easy to do with the later years ones. Personally I like the non flare look, although it sucks gettin the windshield all muddy.

Yes know what you mean. I bought a new set of flares and while mocking them up to be mounted decided I liked my 1999 better without them.
The mud on the windshield I can live with along with the fact I'm in a lot of trails with trees that are very narrow and the flares are just extra width on each side.

Thanks for all the input!! I feel the same about no flares half the time but the other half of the time I think the flats look badass and also the mud/water problem on the windshield with no flares...

There are always notchcustom flares (previously iceland off road) and they cut a HUGE amount of metal, compared to other flares, it looks like. I think a magazine got 33s under a 2 inch lift with those flares

To clarify notch and Iceland are not the same company. Iceland owed their supplier money so their supplier sold the molds and notch bought the molds from the supplier for 15k iirc. The owner of Iceland tried to order a cease of all sales through court order which notch won due to a paper trail and Iceland owning the supplier a good chunk of change.
