F8.8 Conversion; Inisght and help
Just picked up a Ford 8.8 axle with 4.10s and LSD before I start to prep for this swap, Id like to address every related issue/upgrade available so as not to run into any problems down the road.
The obvious first step is new spring perches and shock mounts. Anyone know of a couple places that offer bracket kits? But do the shock mounts have to hang below the axle? Or is it possible to have them above the axle tube in order to create more clearance and less chance of hang-up for sensitive parts as such?
Second step: Brakes; I understand a ZJ master cylinder is a good swap in order to accomidate the addition of the rear ABS disk brakes.
Third step: The axle itself. Should I spend money to refresh/replace bearings. I turn the yoke/hubs and everything is in good working order from I can tell. Edit: C-Clip eliminations? Any knowledge?
If there is anything I maybe be missing or something that others who have experience may reccomend in addition with this swap please shine some light. And links to sites or other post that prove helpful.
Thanks everyone,
Jon

You don't need shock mounts all you need is the spring plates that the u bolts, bolt up to. And for spring perches, just google for them.

Anyone have any braking answers? Doesnt have to be the cheap or easy way, Id prefer to do everything properly and with the right stuff.

if you've got an 8.25" axle now, you can re-use the u-bolt plates. It's the same O.D. as the 8.8" (3" tubes).
You can cut off and re-use your existing shock mounts, just make sure you flex the suspension and measure for the correct length shocks.
8.8" carriers are not that strong, you might want to consider replacing the carrier with a full case locker.
Make sure you get the u-joint flange with the axle.
Your booster will be fine as will your Master Cylinder, but you should grab a ZJ proportioning valve so that your rear discs get the right amount of pressure at the right time.

FrankZ has it right. As far as spring perches, you can actually order Mopar perches from your dealer for cheap, and they are pretty beefy. They just need to be opened up a hair.
As far as the u-joint flange, you could go 1 of 2 ways: get the right flange for your existing u-joint, or get a conversion u-joint for the 8.8 flange. I got the conversion joint.

I knew I had seen something like what I was talking about before...
http://www.tntcustoms.com/fronttruss-wagoneerd4480.aspx
But it's for the front. Would be nice if they made a cheapish version for the rear; however, I can see how it wouldn't work as well as the front.
