Expected speed

Hello. I have a 1993 xj with a 5 speed in it and 32" tires. I'm trying to decide what gears to put in it. I was thinking 3.73, but it is important that I'm still able to do hyway speeds. Do you know what kind of speed I can expect with those gears? Or should I consider 3.55's?

4.10s would be my choice with 32s

download a speedo app for your phone, and see what you are doing rpm wise @ 60 mph now, the do the math

I have 31's and went with 3.73 gears (manual trans as well). I think it is a near perfect combo. I can cruise down the freeway at 75 mph turning about 2600 rpm. 80 mph gets close to 3000 rpms. When I switch over to 33's I will most likely regear to 4.10s.

Just throwin' this out there, you could probably pick up a pair of stock axles from an auto with 3.55s for cheap money, Give em a shot and if you want more gear then do the regear and sell the extra axles.

3.73 axles are also somewhat easy to find but they are out of the GC. So only the front axle would work. Would still need to regear the rear and might as well get an 8.25 at that point.

I have a five speed with 31s and 3.55s. its okay on the highway but could be better. other than on the highway it doesnt ever go into 5th gear its just too low

I cant even imagine 3.07s on 31s or taller
