Default exhaust questions

hey guys i got some exhaust questions because i know nothing about them. So i was looking into getting a flowmaster super 10 muffler. A 99 jeep cherokees Muffler size is 2.25 inch right? Do they make muffler with a 2.25 inch inlet and like a 3 inch outlet. I was thinking of redoing the whole back end of the exhaust. Also would running a dual pipe back make it louder? Thanks in advance!

yeah i think its 2.25. why dont you look on flowmasters website or something to see if they make that muffler how you want it? duals are hard to do on the xjs and they arent worth it IMO. just get a loud muffler

The super ten is pretty much the most aggressive you can get. I had one and a high flow cat on my f150 and it was wicked loud. Look into a good quality high flow catylic converter, 3 inch I think would make you lose bak pressure on an engine so small as the I6, so I wouldn't recommend it

Get 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust that's what I need on mine. I know iron rock sells a cat back exhaust for a decent price.

They are said to do things Im sure they do...but to me exhaust tips on cherokees/jeeps are way ugly like a lifted ricer.

Not Enough difference to be worth it. The size tip your looking at to make a slight difference will drag on the ground.

ha ok. So for a cat, if it has a wider width and a longer body length will it create a deeper sound?

The cat should be smaller for a louder sound less flow resistance. That's why if you straight pipe it it sounds loud. Your muffler will sound differently depending on the flow design and the size of the muffler. So a performance cat is going to be smaller than a factory cat.
