I have been looking into some new exhaust ideas and looking to change my rigs sound. i have a dynamax muffler on right now stock pipe size and tailpipe but i want to take my cat out and put straight pipe in its place. My biggest issue with it is i dont know where to put the o2 sensor. 1999 Cherokee. help appreciated

I made the mistake of asking that also cause mine has 3 cats and i wanted to get rid of the third cat (which is downstream of the 2 precats). Plenty of folks posted up about how bad of a move that would be. Your jeep will run better with the cat, so if you are concerned with it being worn out or clogged, just replace it with a high flow unit. Without the cat, you will have a permanent CEL and it will never pass inspection. In what way do you want it to sound different?

First, straight piped 4 litres sound horrible.
Second, your jeep will run worse because of lack of back pressure.
Third, its illegal, and therefore shouldn't be discussed here.
Can we make a sticky about cat removal yet?
