Exhaust compatibility
I have a 2000 xj and I am putting a 94 xj motor into it due to a cracked head. I got a header which is for the 94, so it should bolt right up. I plan to use my 2000 intake so not to have to deal with 02 sensors and whatnot. With the drastic difference in header styles between the 94 and the 00 I am trying to figure out what to do. I do not have the 2 pre-cats and only have 3 02 sensors in the exhaust. I am thinking the best option would be to use the 94 header, buy or make a new down pipe and install aftermarket exhaust from the cat back. I can weld in bungs for the 02 sensors in the correct locations. Anyone know if the down pipe for the 94 and the 00 are routed in basically the same fashion other than the 2000 requiring a Y pipe? If I buy a 94 pipe will it match up to the routing of the 2000 exhaust. Just curious what the best option is here.
