Default Engine swap (which is best)

I was wondering what would be the best for the Cherokee when it comes to power price durability etc.. , stroking the engine, dropping a small block in it, or putting a diesel in it. What have you guys done?

Need some more info. What kind of wheeling do you do? What lift/tires? Lockers? Gears?

I'm planning on buying a 5.5" long arm lift, upgrading axles to D44 in front and a Ford 9" in the back, both will be locked, I'm running 33s right now, may or may not go to 35s. As for the kind of wheeling I do... Mostly mudding but I do alot of trails, and hoping to get into a little bit of rock crawling after I get the long arm kit. Also reinforcing the unibody if that makes a difference.

Stroker would be the easiest (probably not the cheapest). SB or diesel requires special parts and a little higher skill & equipment level.
Just my 2 cents.

just stroke it. if you put a stock small block in it your gains over stock are very minimal. a diesel conversion would require way too much custom work and adaptation, and would cost a ton. stroking it makes a lot more sense due to the simplicity and if you do it right you can keep the cost relatively low as well
