Default engine knock what the heck is it

i rebuild a 2001 4.0L engine about a week ago it has developed a knock that sounds like a rod but only does it under power i still droped the pan and checked the bearings everything looks good has anybody run into this problem

U rebuilt it yourself? Did you plastigauge all the main/rod bearings? Did you use assembly lube or just oil? Was piston to wall clearence correct? Wrist pins in good shape?

Why was it rebuilt, and what was involved/replaced in it?

Other things that can make a similar noise are loose torque converter bolts, missing timing chain guide.

no.5 piston came apart wifes jeep just a on road jeep took the block to a machine shop had it checked honed cam bearings put in i got new rod and piston for that cylinder i put new rings and new rod an mains everything was in spec even checked the ring gap yes i did put the engine togather myself not saying that i cant scwew up everybody does but i have redone many smallblock chevs and fords first jeep tho im wondering about spark knock what controls that and would it thro a code if it is

i did check the timing chain guide and know that u said about the tourqe bolts i have heard of that along with a cracked flywheel goin to the garge to find out thanks

If it's only doing it under load that would probably be a piston, if it were main bearing or rod bearings they usually quiet down under load.

Check that you adjusted the valves correctly.
