Hey everyone. New to the site, yada yada yada..

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, 4x4.

Last night i went ti put something in the back end, and the key fob would not unlock the rear hatch. the handle moves in and out and will not unlatch. so i operated the inside auto unlock, and the lock is not locking or unlocking for the rear hatch.. So i immediately thought that the lock may be broken.

I tried to hit the unlatch button for the rear glass, and this is not working either.

so my guess is electrical. i can do anything mechanical, but electrical is my cryptonite.

Any help would be appreciated. i am trying to search the forums to find anything related, but if someone can send me in the right direction, i would be much obliged.

wow.. replying to my own post. lol.

So I was able to pop the lift gate and take the inner panel off, and the electrical actuator is not operating the mechanism that unlocks and locks the lift gate.

Tonight when using the lock and unlock on the key fob, there is a high pitch sound coming from the actuator now.

So i called the junkyard and they want $300 for the entire lift gate.

Anyone have any ideas where to find this part, other than the dealer?

well i replaced the latch actuator, issue is resolved.
