Default E brake cables after lift?

I noticed that after lifting my jeep 6.5 inches, the e brake cable is really stretched. It's a 2001 and I've heard about people using 91 yj pass side cables but for pre 97. I think I read somewhere that you can get one yj cable, put it on your passenger side and move your old pass line to your driver side. Would this work or does anyone have something that'll work better?

On my 2000 I unbolted the bracket where the one cable pulls the two cables and moved it back and reattached it. Don't know if it will work on older xjs though.
