Even after its been off a while? Could be for the courtesy lamps that keep the headlights on for a bit after turning the jeep off..

Wtf. Idk dude. If it means anything all my friends who converted to 97+ have swapped the entire harness. Idk how far along you are.

The switch somehow keeps the lights on after you turn off the car if you don't switch it off before you kill it on 97+. I'm not sure how long they stay on, it's one of those safety features. My guess is, it's that feature, assuming you have it installed.

Damn you.

What this guy said. If I had read first, it would have saved me 30seconds of typing. :P

Well here's the thing, all the other wires are accounted for. So this extra 12v goes to nothing

That's weird...

If it were me, I'd just terminate it. Almost all the switched circuits on the Jeep switch the hot wire (vs. switching the ground wire). Having that wire hot at all times implies it is used as part of a ground-switch circuit, but I can't figure out what that would be. Is it part of the factory wiring, or is it an aftermarket wire?

Factory as far as can tell. It goes in a loom in front if the rad and opens up by the battery. Then it opens up but there are lots it red wire the same size
