Default leaf spring question

What does the flat leaf do on the leaf spring that I have better for towing does it make it a stiffer ride?

It won't make it a stiffer ride it just prevents the spring pack from arching in the negative direction when hauling a load. If the springs arch backwards it can wear them out prematurely.

So in other words it's better for towing if you do that a lot. Otherwise it just limits the flex in the rear

Its for heavier loads. most all factory springs will arch backwards. It also helps prevent more axle wrap.

Can you ditch it? Yep.

Up to you.

No it doesn't limit the flex, no need for a thumbsdown, it's good to have especially if you're not bump stopped properly
