drivetrain swap is it worth the headache
I have a 91 auto Cherokee that the motor died on. So I went looking for another. Found a 94 manual lifted low miles sye and heavier axles. The problem the entire floor is rusted out. Thinking about swapping suspention and drive train to my 91. How big of a pain to change an auto to a manual?

Honestly a rusted out floor isn't a complete death sentence if you have the time and patience to do the work putting new floor pans in. I bought all of my stuff for about $300 and when I get my second xj I'm going to put my current one under the scalpel and get it done in a weekend or 2. Plus if you do the swap in of the engine on to yours and just run it for a while and if your engine is salvageable I would use it as and excuse to make a 4.6 stroker to put in that big rig and then you can start building the one with the better axles and sye to be your weekend trail warrior.

I do prefer manuals but doesn't matter to much. It was my daily driver/huntin rig. Also I think the motors probably screwed. I was just under full on oil the day before and now it shows over a quart over full. Was told by our mechanic at work I probably cracked the block.

This is the second time the motor went. I rebuilt it ran fine just had some lifter noise. I just need to get it going quick I sold my other jeep a couple weeks ago. So I need a vehicle and figured just do a motor swap or find another and build one out of them since my body is really rough

V8 swap is about 9000 times harder than fixing a 4.0L... what are you breaking? Head gaskets? Buddy been filling your crankcase when you're not looking?
