I normally like buying trans and motor mount from a offroad store but are the ones from autozone just as good I'm gonna replace them while it's in shop they look rough but not completely deteriorated

kgm Feb 5, 2014 09:36 PM

Are you going to rally the bajeebus out of this? Then you may want to get aftermarket motor mounts that can really take a beating. Mine is a 99% DD, so I'm just using the $10 motor mounts. The brown dogs & other companies make some really great quality super strong after market ones, though.

jonwalden68 Feb 5, 2014 09:42 PM

Just some people say not to use autozone one didn't know lol

kgm Feb 5, 2014 11:32 PM

Yeah not sure about theirs specifically. I get my stuff from rockauto or advanced.

jonwalden68 Feb 5, 2014 11:41 PM

I used to buy a lot from rock auto but there shipping is expensive. Would my 95 a Auto trans is aw4 but I'm hoping I can have it fixed tomorrow if my longer slip yoke comes in my mechanic which he isn't a offroad guy said the vibrating coming from the driveshaft not going into the tcase far enough so we will see if not I'll add a little shim to it then if not I'm screwed lol

kgm Feb 5, 2014 11:53 PM

You may be able to find a longer driveshaft via the junk yard. Some of the different axle combos had different lengths. Some googlin' can find that info for you, I don't have it offhand. Different T-case & rear axles have different driveshaft lengths. I'm replacing my trans & motor mounts this spring once it's not freezing balls out. Is the lift new?

jonwalden68 Feb 6, 2014 12:00 AM

No I bought jeep with lift on it and now I'm going behind them fixing everything it rides good till 54-55 mph then it breaks lose vibrating everything my shaft now is 31" from center u joint to center

kgm Feb 6, 2014 12:03 AM

It probably has to do with that slip yoke engagement but it can't hurt to pop new u joints in there. I don't think you've done that yet, right?

jonwalden68 Feb 6, 2014 12:12 AM

No I had them looked at they said they were fine but I'm putting new u joints in with yoke tomorrow and what do you need slip yoke engagement

jonwalden68 Feb 7, 2014 12:07 PM

Well I had the long travel yoke put on and new trans mount drove down road still vibrating. Put the shim in rearend vibration is little better but still pretty bad. I have no clue were to go from here. I took front shaft off to make sure wasn't coming from front still vibration. I have no clue my angle looks good there measuring now to make sure any ideas

I think your rear axle is shimmed up to high. For a standard Drive shaft like the one in your pic it should look like, THIS.
If it was a CV joint shaft it would have to be like,THIS
But if i was you i would just brake down and get a SYE or at least a Hack&Tap yoke from Iron Rock off road and get a Junk Yard Front CV shaft off a Cherokee. I had Vibes from 45-50 with the standard shaft trans drop and shimmed axle. Took the shims out did a littler better but Still small vibes. then i broke down and went with IRO H&T was able to get rid of the trans drop put my 4 degree shims back in. Then right after it was in i took it for a drive and i was likehttp://whatgifs.com/wp-content/uploa...ifs-bored2.gif

Good luck

jonwalden68 Feb 7, 2014 02:23 PM

The vibration is way worse without shims I got most of vibration out now after all day of trial and error. Now it feels like some of the vibration coming is coming from front end I'm gonna get alignment I need one anyway and have tires balanced and see if that helps any if not then I'll be getting hack and tap

emptypockets Feb 7, 2014 02:25 PM

What's your motor/trans/tcase combo?

jonwalden68 Feb 7, 2014 02:25 PM

4.0 231 and auto trans

emptypockets Feb 7, 2014 02:32 PM

I was thinking you could use a driveshaft out of a 2.8L xj, but then thought about some other options, like using a manual trans ds. Found some links for you:
