Ok so many of the lifted XJ people and most of the stockies should know the rolling clunk a bad ujoint makes right??

i make it almost every time i accelerate... and i just pressed in a heavy duty... i dont understand why it insists on scaring the crap out of me daily.. but it likes too...

Does anyone know why im making this sound??
Is it bad drive line Angle??

Would a tCase drop help at all??

Looks to me like you've already got a SYE.

i do, but i looking at the drive line, it almost looks like its binding on the yoke... thats why i was thinking if i added the drop. if it would alleviate it.

It's hard to see, but is that a CV rear drive shaft? If so, it looks like your rear yoke angle is way off too. It's pointing above the centerline of the drive shaft, and should be 1-3 degree's below it (to allow for natural movement when getting on the gas.

As it looks, I bet it binds when you get on the gas.

and thats what i was thinking. Im curious, how much do these XJs love getting "stretched"

i was thinking about scooting the rear end back an inch or 3.

You'll get more axle wrap of you stretch it, typically, depending on how its done.

Its a real SYE.. and yes it is shimmed...

when i was installing the kit, i do believe they were 3/4 inch shims that the kit came with... but i cant be certain.

this silly heep took 9 hours to rebuild... lift included... but i cant help but feel i missed some stuff... and i was the only one doing it. it was 34 degrees out side so no one took pictures

Pinion is way too high. When you accelerate it climbs up and looks like it would just explode the u joint. Take the shim out if that's what's in there.

any idea what degree shims to run?

From the look of it I would start with none. The shaft isn't running at Mich of an angle, and you don't have a ton of lift so IF you need shims it won't be much.
What is in there now? Looks easily like 6 degree

Does the clunk sound like coming from the t case? If yes I have the same problem. It only happens when I accelerate had in first gear. I was talking with an xj guy from 4 wheel parts that I know and he thinks on mine the t case chain might be stretched some. You could look into that also but would need to open up the back of the t case to check it

x5 on pinion angle is off, i did the same mistake while doing my lift so now my shims are paper weights
