Door Speakers
Anyone know what size marine speakers will fit the stock location in the front doors? Any aftermarket suggestions?

Well if they are the same size as the stock, I would guess they would fit...........right?? Search!

Let me rephrase the question for the *******s...Does anyone know or recommend a high quality set of marine speakers that will fit the 5 1/4 opening besides the cheap Chinese ones? I live on an isolated Island in the Bahamas and just cant run up to a best buy without loading my Jeep onto a barge and shipping it back over to the United States...
I did search and did not find any information other than cheap junk speakers... |

Stick with the main brands and you'll do okay. Avoid the pyle/pyramid/boss/Jensen etc.

Thank You PRCherokee, that's on track what I am looking for. I am considering wakeboard Bazookas for the rear, anyone run them in their Jeep?
Ian, looks like those are all larger than the 5 1/4 opening. I am trying to keep from cutting the door, mainly because I don't have the tools or place to do so anymore the other reason is that once you cut metal down here it instantly starts rusting... |
PRCherokee,
I just ordered the Polk Audio MM521's from Amazon. They were a bit cheaper and I know Amazon will ship to my American Armed Forces address here in the Islands with no extra charge. |
What year cherokee? I fit 6.5 Coaxials in my front door ('98) with no issues, and components have even more room. Had to drill new mounting holes, but no cutting involved.
It is the depth that is the most limiting, but most midrang speakers should clear it no problem. |
XJ is a 1988 model, Thanks for the info.

I did search and did not find any information other than cheap junk speakers... Now the question: you can run the slightly bigger speakers with the 98' but make sure they are slightly shallow, if not it won't hardly fit. |
