Default Does anyone on here fabricate a good hitch tire carrier by chance?

Alight so I just joined. Not sure where to post and the search function kept bringing back the same stuff and stuff from years ago. (I'm using the Mobile site if that matters?)

Anyways, I'm trying to find someone who makes a budget priced tire carrier for a 2000 XJ? So I think a hitch mounted one is probably the lowest cost idea? I looked into detours but $300+ for a hitch mount carrier was a little to high on the price for me. I've found the parts to make one but I don't know what the hell I'm doing so I'll probably end up messing it up and losing my tire on the road..lol

So does anyone on here fabricate or want to fabricate a hitch mounted tire carrier? (That drops down out of the way so you can open the hatch). Let me know and sorry if this is in the wrong section! Thanks All!

I was going to suggest Wilco offroad but it is pretty expensive.

For under $300, I think your only option is one of those more generic non-folding hitch carriers (Curt makes one), or fab your own. It looks like you are running 33's though, and I would be a bit wary of how heavy it is for a hitch mounted carrier but it should be fine

All the hitch mounted carriers I have seen wobble & move around a lot.

"Good" and "Cheap" are on the opposite sides of the spectrum.
It's kinda like looking for a "Friendly" Guard dog.
Best bet is to find a good used one some one has no use for.
Junk yards, forum classifieds, CL, etc
