Default dodge 1 ton axles?

i found an old dodge pickup that was converted to a tow truck at the local junk yard. not sure what year but its the old square body style. under it i found some 1 ton(im guessing) 8 lug axles front and back. would it be worth the 150/axle to bring them home to go full width? most times i see people using dana 60 and 9in axles. just wondering if it would be worth the time and money

thanks for your help

Dodge Front D60's aren't worth much. The use unit bearing hubs and there's very little aftermarket support.

He said square body style, which I assume he means 93 or older.

If that is the case, there is really no reason to avoid them that I am aware of.

If it's the square body style the front D60 will be a passenger side drop so you'd need a new t-case as well as modifing the exhaust and passenger floor board among other things. Better to just find a driver drop axle.

when i looked under it it was driver side drop as the differential was on the driver side. i was guessing like mid 80's for the truck. if it make a difference it was soa front leafspring suspension. i was reading up on dodge 1 ton trucks and it may be possible it is a d70?

Considering the time and expense, a Dodge d60 doesn't make a lot of sense.

Based on the OP's description it may very well be a low pinion with a CAD and unit bearing hubs.

Not worth it IMHO.

Being under an 80's truck (and the leaf springs confirm that it was not a 94+) it should be passenger drop. I have never seen a drivers drop pre 94 dodge
