Default Do i need bumb stops

I am in the process of installing a rc 4.5" full leaf kit with adjustable upper and lower control arms. My new wheel and tire set up is 33/12.5/15 bfg mts (old style) on 15by10s with I think 4" back spacing. The kit did not come with or mention new bump stops, I will be cutting the fenders. With this set up will I need to worry about messing with new bump stops. Also if it matters its a 99 4 door

I would if I were you. I'm running the same set up and I run my fenders and inner fenders pretty good. I just haven't gotten around to it since I'm probably not wheeling soon.

I needed them, didn't run then for 6mo.
One road trip i had hit a pot hole so hard that my shock bottomed out and broke my shock mount off of the axle.

Yes. Every Jeep on the face of the planet needs to have the correct bump stops on it.

It wasn't fun, it wasn't cool. Luckily i didn't hurt myself or anybody going down the highway when my shock pushed the mount into the road.

I am going to go ahead and jack your thread for a minute too. I am also planning a 2" lift and was curious about the bump stops. It is understood that I need them but no clue which size or where to buy. If there is a link for this info I would be more then happy to good read about it, otherwise any info would be great!

Again sorry for any thread jacking!

Flex, find your shock and see how much travel is left (if any since you don't have bumps) between axle and bump tower inside of the coils is where you need to see how much more bump you need.
For my 3" kit i did 3 hockey pucks glued together inside of each coil.

If it were me I'd flex until my tire (or anything else) is going to make contact. Measure the space between the bumpstop and where it needs to contact in the center of the bottom coil perch. That gap is the amount of space your new bump stop needs to fill.

Shocks should be measured basically the same way, but should be measured using the upper and lower mounts, and you'll want to measure collapsed (tire stuffed) and extended (full tire droop) which should give collapsed and extended shock lengths.
