Default DIY "OH S#!T" Handles

Made these from a garden hose and some spare material from a torn ratchet strap.

Made one for both A-pillars. B pillars soon...

I can shake the whole Jeep from these!

Both of those ideas a pretty cool. I wish there would have been some more details on how you made them and how they were mounted behind the trim.

Well when i did it, they began to get longer after a couple of day. If theyre just stretching, no big deal. But if theyre tearing thats no good. So while i was trying to remove the A pillar trim, i broke the retainer clips.

So today, im heading to the junkyard for some sensors, Headlight switch, and new A pillar trim. So i will take more pictures, this time.

Btw, they were stretching not tearing....

Good News Everyone!
A great day at the JY yesterday. I got a no name HD gas tank skid, frame mount hitch, hitch "shin-saver", headlight switch(also bad), and...
New A-pillar trim! All for $20!

So a re-do of the grab handles, soon.
With many pictures!

I might make them with flourescent orange, instead of black ratchet-strap.

That write up is great, thank you. I want to add handles to the b-pillar, mostly to help my son get in. He has a bit of a hard time reaching up the handle above the door. So I need to make mine strong enough so an 80lb kid can pull himself up in to my Jeep. I also want to put the cover back on as well, so I'm trying to figure out how I want to cut it and run a handle through it

Im hoping this Holiday weekend, i will at least redo the A pillars, and hopefully do my B pillars.

The B pillars will more likley be attached as though they were hanging from the ceiling than the actual B pillar. Because the pillar is vertical, it would make a solid grab to the handle, for the purpose of getting in, difficult.

Pics will be included.

Wish me luck.

Thanks alot. I think its a little weak for a write up, but the revised version will be better. Measurements and all.

Well, it sure didn't have everything that you did. But if someone can't figure it out from that write-up.....

What really helped me was seeing the b-pillar and knowing what to expect.

The part that has me thinking is how to do it with putting the molding back on. I'm thinking running a longer bolt through the molding and the entire strap will be on the outside. Not bolted up tight to the pillar.

Your point about getting in has me thinking about getting longer top grab handles to make it easier for him to reach..... hmmmmm
