Well, you don't have to hate it, but I certainly do. There were some nice things about it that I wish Jeep would have done (all bolts were well plated, almost none rusted in place, skid plate over double cardan joint, locking hubs, gear driven transfer case, military wrapped springs).

But I started with a $700 truck, had a budget of $1500... and at last count, I was just shy of 5K. Thing nickel and dimed me harder than any Jeep ever has.

I'd trade it for a decent YJ in a heartbeat.

But the tires look nice...

I thought I'd throw these pictures up for consideration. I decided to remove the Cepek's from my project truck and move them over to our TJ.

Well... 1/4 of the tires didn't like that plan. Tires legit had less than 2 miles on them. Waiting currently to see if 4wd.com will warranty it or is going to tell me it's installer's fault. Truth of the matter is it tore loose really, really easy. It left a very clean imprint of the cord in the rubber, and I grabbed it and peeled it on loose by hand. In my line of work, that would have been considered an improper bond to the substrate.

Also, dismounted, it feels like these have crazy thin sidewalls. They are Load C mind you, but it caught me off guard how non-rigid they were. Not saying that's good or bad. Just an observation.

Well, after a week of calling 4wd .com and being bounced around (once told I had called the wrong company when their system forwarded me to the wrong person), I finally fired off an angry email today outlining every attempt, with dates, that I had made to contact the warranty department, and (more or less) telling them their customer service sucked, I finally got an email from their warranty guy telling me it was the installer's fault. I figured that would be their go-to answer, but I was hoping maybe they'd actually believe me how easily the rubber pulled loose from the bead. I get it. I'm sure a lot of people try to get them to pay for the customer's mistakes.

The frustrating part is that I sent the email Friday, and by Monday their system showed the ticket as closed, but they wouldn't contact me to tell me their determination. Top notch service there. Really disappointed with how they handled it. I've always had good customer service from 4wd/4wp on the sales side.

Sorry, done whining. I guess the reason I'm updating this is because this tire is a dud. And since this thread was one of the only ones I found with decent, real world reviews when I was searching, I thought I'd follow through on my experience with them. Hopefully this is an isolated defect.

And yes, I do understand how bead damage typically happens when dismounting. I understand that it's easy to look at this and just assume that's what happened. I assumed it at first, until I started pulling at the rubber and it started peeling away from the bead.

Anyone think I could salvage this as a trail spare? Would a bead lock wheel seal it, maybe?

so since this thread is out and about. if my memory serves me correct I should have over 20k miles on these here tires by now.








thats the tire with the least amount of tread. I would say they are still on the better half of there life.

Pretty standard. 35s range from 34 to 34.5 inches. Very few tires run true to size.

Ok figured i should chime in since its been nearly a year. i forgot to write down my mileage( i think) before i got the tires mounted. I would guess around 10k miles on them since march. Ill give a short review. Honestly, i dont want to go out and take pictures of the tread depth because well.......its in the single digits and snowing, and aside from loosing the little rubber ****, i can hardly at all tell they wore. I daily drive my MJ with these tires 30 miles every day. Been running 17lbs front and 15lbs rear to be able to pass the chalk test. any more, and i do not have complete tread contact with the road. They do not seem squirmy at all even at 70mph down the highway. As far as tire performance.......these tires really shine off road and in deep snow. having had quite a few trips this summer and fall in a vairety of terrain, ranging from wet slick granite to sand, and caliche clay and deep snow. The only complainti have is they have not very good icy road traction. if there is no media for the tread to bite into(i blame lack of long siping), they just dont grab traction. After all, the large blocky tread is more condusive to loose terrain as opposed to ice. If a road(even gravel) has a solid layer of compacted snow or ice anywhere, i have to use 4x4 no matter what. (bear in mind i have a spartan rear locker and a tru-track front). In mud, they seem to clean out well due to the edge lug spacing. the center pattern i feel helps with highway stability. Had the opportunity to go out last weekend and screw around in the slush and snow drifts with some super steep hill climbs. the tires never fought for traction, and always kept biting. over all.......i'm impressed, and will probably buy them again.

Default Wet traction

I've read a lot of good reviews on these tires, and are trying to decide between the extreme countries and the Cooper ST Maxx. I really like the extreme countries but my concern is traction on wet roads and in the rain because I will be running an open diff. And we all know how a Cherokee handles in the rain. Any input would be greatly appreciated

I sold mine over a year ago. They did very well for a weekend warrior and daily driver. I did end up with a bit of a wear pattern that made them a bit noisy and they did washboard at low speeds on the street. I replaced them with KM3's and I am very happy with the decision so far. No wash board and no wear pattern yet. I feel the BFG's are worth the few bucks more a tire.

Thank you for your feedback it will be taken into consideration. I will be changing all ball joints and tie rods to make sure things wear evenly throughout the life of the tires. LOL now I'm looking at the discoverer stt pro and The BFG mud terrain
