death wobble question
hey everyone, i had a death wobble yesterday and so i checked everything in the front end and found nothing. my mechanic buddy found that the air pressure in the tires was around 28 or29 psi, could this cause it? thanks for responding i know that this topic has been over killed.:sweatdrop:

I loobed up all of my joints on the zerts (or how ever its spelled) fittings. and my death wobble is basically gone
|
I keep my tire PSI at about 25-26
Check the trace bar, I know a lot of times it's just that a bolt or nut is a little lose. Your steering stabilizer, could also be worn out or the steering box bolts... I know you said you checked everything, I'm just listing some hot spots, there are a lot of reasons it happens. |
Maybe out of alignment, that's what mine was

bad lug nuts was mine........

my alignment was just done i am starting to think it is the steering box or the universal joint on the drivers side front wheel. Thanks guys i will definitely go over it all again

the ball joints on mine were wore out and the shocks needed replaced.....i replaced the ball joints and the steering stabilizer and it fixed it minus the needing of new shocks

yeah i also got a new steering stabalizer to
|
I was told to repalce my trac bar on the front end and that will cure my death shake. I have a 4.5 lift. Do you guys recomend the adjustible or the one for the lift. I do not plan on lifting it any higher but maybe going to 33 1050 15 tires. Thanks.

I have the RC 4.5 lift and 33 12.50s when i had the DW i got a new RC steering stabalizer and got an alignment and that fixed my issue

ok so it happened again death wobble after i hit a big bump at around 70 mph. the same bump that caused it before. I have thoroughly check over my front end for any unwanted movements and nothing. I even had my buddy who is a mechanic look at it. the weird thing is that i once i get it under control i can hit big bumps at 70 mph and its fine. is this a sign of the stabilizer going bad? it is fairly new and i don't do much off-road driving. ANy suggestions would help. thanks:wacko:

for me i think the death wobble was because of the angle of the control arms. 6 inches of lift with adjustable arms.
i installed the Rubicon Express drop brackets (which are probably pretty easy to fab up if you have a welder) which helped get the control arms more parallel to the ground and death wobble was gone. |
death wobble is just a phrase used to sound tuff it's nothing more than a vibration; lost wheel weight, shock decided that bump was it, as well as any bushing or joint that gave up
