Default Death wobble

Hey guys,

I was wondering if worn upper control arm bushings could cause death wobble? I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 AW4 NP231 with a Pro Comp 3" lift. It didn't have death wobble until recently. They told me that it was my tie rods so i decided to get the currie heavy duty tie rod system. It seemed to help but the death wobble was still there, so then they told me it could be the upper ball joints so i went ahead and replaced all four; upper and lower on each side. Death wobble is still present. Now they're telling me that my upper control arm bushings are worn. Could this be the cause to my death wobble?

Thanks in advance!

did you ever change out ur track bar for an adjustable one?

if ur uprs are bad than I would say yes. But they would have to be pretty chewed up.

Any play in any part of your steering/suspension system can contribute to the "wobble". I replaced all the loose worn parts in my '93.. I did the control arms last, and that did the trick.. now for those old worn rear ca's.

Have you checked / set the caster & toe? I lifted my XJ (with 172K and all stock bushings I am sure) 3" with an OME lift and it had DW. I found a link here on the forum to a site that shows how to check / set alignment on XJ yourself at home (its VERY easy) and that took care of a LOT of my DW.

What finally solved it was when I got new tires put on - the old ones must have been out of balance or could have had one out of round.

Anyway, I'd for sure check the alignment (YOU do it, don't trust some dude in a shop that just wants to get your truck in and out, take your money and on to the next one) before throwing a bunch of money / parts at it.

....

I had death wobble in my 99 and it was a royal pain to get rid up. Mine ended up being the the UCA Bushings one way to tell if the bushings are bad is there will be a poping sound on sharp turns. Another good place to check is tires un balanced tires are notorious for causing DW. But have you had an alighnment recently?

Sheet,I'm sure that's what causes my slight wobbles.

I've replaced everything in the front suspension besides uca bushings, and I still get that infamous full lock POP

I would say your bushings are bad when I put my long arm in I changed all of my bushings and now there is no pop. And no dw.

I haven't changed out my trac bar for an adjustable one yet. I got it aligned the first time I put the Currie system in. They didn't align it this time because their machine was down. I'm seriously debating wether I want to spend the money on new upper control arms or if i should just buy the bushings for the stock UCA. I eventually wanna go to a long arm ... Hopefully sometime in the near future.

Another thing I think it's my tires ... They're pretty bald. I believe this was cause when I lifted it and didn't get it aligned. I figured it was ok since it drove straight. Joke's on me ...
