Hi all,

My daughter just picked up a 95 xj that I believe has a 3" lift, well she has her sights set on 33" tires which she say would Need minimum a 4.5" lift with a sye. She is very strong willed and will get it regardless of my input. I guess a chip off the old block I had an early bronco w/38" in the 1980's..
So I am currently looking at a rough country with long arms. My questions is are these kits complete. Or will I have to extend brake line, driveshafts and steering column.

You do not NEED to buy the lift to fit 33s. You could trim the fenders, bump-stop it and be good to go.


Most of the "complete" kits will come with extended brake lines etc. If you go to the RC page, it should inform you of everything it includes. Post up the one your looking at and I can tell you. If the one you are looking at does need them, you can get them all over the place.

Keep in mind that the higher you go, the more expensive it gets. You will probably need the Slip-yoke-eliminator at 4.5" and new driveshafts. Steering may also become a issue that will need to be addressed but your shaft will be fine. Gearing will be needed for larger tires.

All that being said, I am at 6.5" and love it. Just be prepared to spend a little extra the higher you go.

X2 ^ Bump stops are pretty important, and constantly forgotten about. If you get extended bump stops, and trim the fenders, you could easily fit 33 inch tires.

Im trimmed, with 33's on a three inch lift with correct bumpstops, no need at 3 to get anything but fenders, and basic lift
done to run 33's.

3" on 33s is a good height/tire combo. Like everyone mentioned, just bumpstop, trim fenders and it'll be good to go.

Post up a pic of what your looking at. Is it just the long arms or the kit? At 4.5" of lift, an sye isn't needed but it's nice to have.

A 4 1/2" long arm is an excellent kit both for off road and highway manners, the brand you choose was one of the less desirable ones.

I run a 4 1/2" lift with 33" tires also but not a long arm till next year. The proper wheel is needed for them also a 15x8" with 3 3/4 to 4" of BS only or the tires will rub the LCA's and frame. Here is mine at 4 1/2" but I do have rocker sliders on it so it looks lower than it is.

She is aware that with a tire change to the 33's she needs new gears also. The correct ones being 4.56's to bring it back to about stock, along with that you may wish to discuss lockers with her as that would be the time for those also with a gear change same amount of labor, if she plans on any off roading.

Is she aware of what J.E.E.P. stands for........Just Empty Every Pocket, but hey she could be spending money on worse things that I don't even need to mention.

no one says you need to regear it, yes it helps but its fine without, i run stock gearing on 35s 3.55 gears and i do just fineeee

That's great equal to about a 2.50 gear, mine was a pig on the highway up and down shifting all the time with 3.55's changed to the 4.56's and gained 5 mpg and regained the power.

I'm just speaking from a hunch here, but it sounds to me like your daughter wants more of a look and less functionality. 33s on a 3" lift with cut fenders is a good option, although many states require fender flares to pass inspection. There would be a lot less money required if you didn't lift it higher. Is it auto or standard? If it's standard you could source axles out of an auto with 3.55 gears and be good. If it's auto, you'll either want to find axles with at least 4.10s or regear. At the very least add a trans cooler and deal with the bad gas mileage. This is my friends 91 with said setup. good fender trimming and 33's fit great on 3" of lift. Gearing does suck though with 3.55s. :001_unsure: I'm looking for more gear way before I'm wishing for more lift.

I'm running 33's and a 3.5" lift. I trimmed the fenders and extended the bumpstops. Hell I even ran 35's for awhile with the same lift. First pic is on 33's 2nd is on 35's

Rough country does not come with drive shafts or brake lines. I bought one a year ago and it didn't come with them.
