dana 44 axle swap
hey guys,
i have a 99 cherokee with the junky dana 35. im about to get the dana 44 to put a locker in and i had a few questions as this is the first time id of done this. the new axle is coming out of a 87-89 xj so im not worried about the bolts aligning, but as long as the gears match the front (its a 3.55 and so is the new axle), there's not too much else i need to worry about right? no different shift points or anything? i did a quick search on a step by step axle switch with no results (do you guys know of a thread?). im sorry if these questions sound dumb, but i am a noob to this. thank you!

Do the exact same thing taking the old one out in reverse. Nothing changes axle to axle assuming gears match etc. Do you have abs right now?

If you're swapping out a 35 you have ABS and you'll have a light on on the dash. I bypassed my ABS, pulled fuses and relays but mine isn't street driven. Drive shaft length will be a little different as well. If it's lifted that shouldn't matter and it's only about an inch difference.
