Hey all,
I picked up a nice Dana 44 off of a 1987 XJ a couple months back and am wanting to get it swapped in my XJ before my birthday trip coming up. Currently I have a 1991 XJ Dana 35 back there and was wondering if I would be able to take everything from the backing plate forward off, and swap it over to the 44. The reason I am wondering is because I'm on a not so nice, college student budget and am trying to find he cheapest/most effective way possible to get things done for the time being. The brakes/hardware on the 35 are practically brand new. Thanks in advance!

Pretty sure the bolt pattern for the backing plates is different.

Yeah it is. Should'a grabbed a 29-spline 8.25 lol
How to make ZJ brakes fit an XJ D44: http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Disc_brakes/
Apparently Ford has some discs that are an easier swap, Crown Vic and Exploder I believe.
Don't forget to upgrade the booster!

I did the d35 disks on my d44 and have no complaints. It was an easy swap it just takes redrilling the holes and a bearing retainer plate from a 03 rubicon. To get the ebrake to work need new cables but those are simple to get from morse4x4's website. If you have a newer Xj you can get by with only changing the proporting valve in the master cylinder instead of replacing the entire mc for better performance.
