ok so my rig is a 97 xj, 4.0 engine aw4 trans with a 231 t case. Im looking at putting a dana 300 t case in it but am not sure what all is involved? The t case already has the novak clocking ring on it to flip it, and a twin stick setup and is a 23 spline, so from what I know, the 23 spline should mate up with my aw4 properly, and as far as driveshafts go, i can run the factory front and I THINK I can run a front shaft for my rear by just pulling the front output yoke off my old 231 and it will slide right onto the rear output shaft of the 300. Does this sound right? Ive searched and searched but it seems not many people have put the 300 in an xj, and if they did they had a completely different setup then me, and/or had deep wallets. so in summary my questions are,
-will that driveshaft combo work
-will I have any issues mating the 300 to my aw4
oh and, keep in mind, im no newbie, im a full time mechanic and my jeep is FAR from stock, i just dont post on the forums much

you need cable shifters or the bracket to run the shifters upside down, and a new, longer rear driveshaft. i dont believe that the 231 yoke will slide onto the D300. you'll need a 1310 one.

the d300 im looking to buy comes with the cable twin stick setup and the flip kit already to go, and it will be just a d300, no doubler. any idea how much longer the rear shaft has to be? and what about the front?

I am sure the d300 has a fixed rear yoke so you'll just have to measure to see what you need, and cross check to make sure you have he proper cv yoke.

Stronger casing
Geared rather than chain driven
Stronger internals
Twin stick
Easy and cheap (relatively) 4:1 swap
I don't see a reason, for my rig at least, for a doubler. You can get a d300 with 4:1 under your jeep for almost the same cost as a Rubicon case. Minus the cost of a new rear shaft of course, but you have a MUCH stronger case and now you can do front digs.
