Is anyone here running a Dana 300 in their rig? I have found a pretty good deal on one and really like the twin stick option. I just don't want to spend a ton of money getting this thing in the XJ and functioning if I can just beef the 231 and get comparable performance.

Can anyone shed some light on the swap. I did a search and all I could come up with was a bunch of Dana axle discussion.

You will need a flip kit for the d300 to work with your d30. Also a clocking ring. And possibly new driveshafts depending on how much length you have to play with

Although a 231 can be built up, it will never be as strong as a gear driven, iron housing dana 300

I put one in mine. You need to flip it with a flip ring. If you don't use a doubler like I did you will need to cut a large hole in the floor and redo the trans tunnel. You can then either rig up or buy some direct shifters or cable shifters and just double seal the shift rods or you can relocate the shifters to the top of the case which is probably the best and most expensive option.

The cost all depends on your fab skills and tools and which option you go with.
