Why would you want to put in a weaker joint?
But to answer your question. Yes the GC vb axles for just the same.

More points of contact? Yes. But the contact surface area is a lot smaller than in a regular Ujoint. The only real advantage a CV joint has over a Ujoint is smoother operation at extreme angles.

Your STOCK jeep has no need to have anything other than the STOCK parts that came with it. You can twist your driveshaft with those week u joints that Jeep put in it from the factory.

What did not fit? I have used them for spares many times. I have on in the back right now as a matter of fact

A design as simple as the freaking U-Joint probably doesn't need much extra protection than a little grease... Better put Rustoleum on your hubcaps too...

do you have abs on yours?

its a stock jeep yes it is. d30 came with cv's in them in the GC i thought it would work. i had to do an emergency repair with little time. i just wanted to put two cv's in at $79 each and fix my u joints later.

the ones i got where to long on both side's by 6 in i though i maybe i got the worng ones.

no I dont have abs. If the shafts were 6" too long they gave you the wrong ones some how. There are no different width dana 30's that came in cherokees/grand cherokees. We have had to run to the parts store to get them before to get a jeep off the trail
