Default Nitro press in D30 sleeves

Many people say sleeves dont strengthen anything much but I'm changing axle shafts anyway and for 100 bucks I'd figure it couldnt hurt.
I do own a welder set up for flux, but id still rather press in the nitro sleeves. I've heard freezing them helps, but does anyone have experience with these? Thanks

I've thought about it. Would be worried about getting 90% of the way in and it just stops moving

Yeah I've thought of that as well. Thinking a bearing race driver and heavy sledge would do the trick. People leave them in a cooler with dry ice for a couple of days. Might give it a shot.

I'd prefer a truss. The ones you can get also strengthen the suspension brackets along with the housing.

I agree, but I am a new welder with a 110 flux setup. Welding to the cast pumpkin probably would end terribly for me. Just looking for an upgrade while I have to axle shaft out, I can always add a truss later.

Worst case scenario if this were to happen, couldnt you just cut what was left sticking out and call it a day.

Could but that would just be a waste of time. With the gap that only gives the rest of the tube leverage to buckle in the gap. At least that what I would think.

Another thing to think of. An older axle may have a slight bend in it just from decades of use. A sleeve may get bound up in there half way in. Do you have a contingency plan if that ends up happening?

Contingency plan is to curse alot, drink alot of beer, and absolute worst case scenario cut off whatever is left sticking out of the tube if it gets stuck, [pretty much nullifying the upgrade] if I even decide it's worth it.
