Are the arms made of DOM tubing? What kind of steel do you use for the crossmember?

I am jealous. I want a long arm kit so bad.

I have a friend who recently installed the Rustys Long Arm kit and I really like it, in fact well enough that I'm going to go that route myself.


I personally have about $4-5K worth of Rustys items installed on my XJ and have had for several years some almost 4 yrs the lift. I have had zero issues with anything I have bought from him so far.


If you check with the ones bad mouthing his stuff you will find 90+% have never owned a single item he sells only they read somewhere something. I have asked this question at least a hundred times on the forums for exact problems and for a photo of it......Guess what not one single answer except for a few older ones about the non std. joints wearing out quickly on the CA's. This has been taken care of and they now.

I like the price of the Rusty's long arm kit I just wish there were more reviews on it online. I'm not completely sold on the crossmember it looks kind of thin, but I'm comparing it to the Claytons which is massive so it might not be a far comparison. I know that you are a big proponent of rusty's since their products are American made which I like and support. There are many complaints online regarding Rusty's products which I will admit gives me some reservations about choosing their products, my thinking is where there is smoke usually there is a fire, people usually complain for a reason. But I don't know......so

FWIW, I've never heard anything bad about the kit from Serious. Ever.

Also, I ended up getting a RK 3 link, and its the only reason I didn't get the kit from Frank. It ended up falling in my lap. Have also not heard much bad about it...but you are correct, it is no longer offered.

I went with everything I could from serious. I am waiting for both the long arms and steering upgrade to come in. I did research and his long arm kit had exceptional review and was in my price range. I have nothing but expetional customer service with him.
If Serious has it, weather he builds or keeps in his online store, I'll go to him and pay his price and know I'll have awesome support. Period. Good luck with your decision!

Agreed. I have done thousands of dollars worth of business with Frank, and will continue to do so. Your money is well spent with him. He is one of us, and will be there when you need him.

And if %#@#%!$ from FedEx would stay open a little later your stuff would be on the road....

I know that for my jeep it needed to be a daily driver 80% of the time and 20% off road. I didn't want something that was going to take a beating day in and day out. Flex wasn't a issue. But when i need it to take a hit and flex i need it to. Quailty of product, reviews, testimonals, and price. These are the things I set my search for. The long arms I'm getting exceed what I need, and from the beating they get put through assure me they can take a hit.

I could go on and on from all the reading I've done about these L/A's. You wouldn't be disappointed O.P

I went in-depth looking for any verified problems before I spent a dime with him and still do when I see one, they are all the same Nothing! It seems to be nothing more than an internet thing that came from a couple of Jeep sites from yrs back and they were exploited to no end.


I have been in business for myself for over 45 yrs. and know how to research a product or two. But I would suggest to go with your gut feeling on this as any purchase. Good luck on your XJ sounds like you will have a lot of work to do when you get back home, Be safe!

Like you I do a lot of research before buying any parts, I'm still keeping Rusty's in mind but I'll keep reading for another month or so before I make my decision. I know that most forums have their flavors of the day and I'm trying to avoid any reports which seem like the posters just want you to drink their flavor of kool aid. Thank you for your input I appreciate it.

My IRO LA kit has been awesome for a very long and abused time... BUT, I will be getting the TNT kit next year sometime. Option for rear coil conversion and that awesome belly pan is enough to push me over.

I know what you mean till saw the Rustys I had my mind made up on the Claytons Long Arm kit and still like it with good feedback, quality work both on their kit.

I went through this same question a few months back. I ended up going with the Synergy front "upgrade". Basically, the brackets and the long arms. I'm in the process of installing right now so I can't give much opinion other than this is BEEF. The brackets fit snugly over the frame so you'll have to run your stiffeners right up to them and then use plates to weld the "bridge".

From my research I'd recommend Synergy, Clayton, Serious. Both Clayton and Serious have an aftermarket crossmember that WILL work with stiffeners. I didn't need the crossmember as I already have a non-factory and I wanted a 4-link instead of radius arms. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong w/ any of these.
