cupholders?
so i've got the cupholders they make to screw in under the console, but they leave alot to be desired (like being able to keep anything other than a solo cup or a can in them). anyone have any success with a different method of holding cups in a cherokee?

There are a couple ways. Can't remember the thread but search for armrest cupholders. Think its in writeups of fabrication. That was a pretty good job they did.

I just bought one of those flimsy ones that clip into the window, took the clip off and screwed it into the dash under the center-right air vent. Hasn't let be down yet!

Did this today
Got these from an 92-95 Taurus. Had to do some cutting in the dash and remove the vent. The downside is I no longer have use of any dash vents and the heat only works out of the defroster and the floor simultaneously. I didn't care about losing the vents since my XJ didn't come with AC and we'll see how the heat works on the next cold morning.

Which reminds me... Pardon the mess, this was just after my lower dash broke in half. That $2 cup holder still hasn't failed me!

I saw somewhere, a guy had half doors with cup holders in them. It was a nice and clean fab. When I do half doors I'm going the same route.
This pic is not the one I've seen buy its an idea.

blue: i like those out of the taurus...did you have to lose all dash vents, or just the middle vent? my middle is already kinda iffy and only blows down as it is, but i have a/c and still like my two side vents. also, does it get in the way of the shifter at all??

The door that closed/opened to the dash vents had to be removed. The new cup holders hang inside the heater box so, I sealed around the cupholders to stop airflow or the vents would have been on all of the time.
