Default Cragar soft 8 on 12.50" tires advise pls

Hi ya,
Will be installing my Rubicon Express 5.5" shortarm (RE6200) lift next week and would like some help with wheels and tire combo pls.

This is what i came up with,
Cragar 397 Black Soft 8 Wheel
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac (12.50")

Currently running stock gear of 3.55 on D35 (have plan for D44 and maybe w/4.56 gear in future).
Rig is not my DD and plan on building it as an expedition/trail rig, nothing hardcore.

Some questions before i order,
1) should i go with 10.50" or 12.50"? (10.50" would have to go with BFG as DuraTac doesn't carry them in that size)
2) would i have a problem with my current gear set up to run 12.50"?
3) experience with the above retailer? And suggestion on other retailer?

Thx in advance.

for a 12.5 you should consider a 9" or even a 10" wide wheel

I would lean more toward 9" though

I have 33x12.50's on Cragar v5's 15x8 and they are perfect. And they really like being aired down and I don't have to worry as much. They look just right, and the road manners are just fine.

Also the 10.50's just seem WAY smaller. They might do better on some stuff, but i'd rather have more tire under my rig.

Thx!
I prefer the 12.50" for the look as well as hoping to get a lower center of gravity with my 5.5" lift but I'm concern if there are any cons.

width of tire has no effect on gearing is diam that you need to wotty about and the wider the better 12.50 on 8s will work good

Just talked to my local tire shop and they WOULD NOT mount 12.50" tires on 8" width rims......minimum requirement is 8.5" rims
Any advice?

Yeah, you should find another shop, because the one that will not mound them doesn't understand the difference between minimum required, and minimum recommended wheel width. The wheel width recommendation is based on what will set the tire tread flatter, usually at full pressure, that is why generally the recommendation is tires should not be more than 4 inches over wheel width, only problem with that is most people are smart enough not to run their tires with max pressure.
Sorry this rambled on, it just annoys me when so called professionals aren't.

If you plan to offroad, don't go with any wider wheel than a 8" with the 12.5" wide tire. you can air down safely lower with a 8" wheel than a 10" wheel. At the same pressure in a 10" wheel, you WILL pop the bead off the wheel.

Thx again for all the comments.
I have found a local tire shop that is willing to do it
They wanted $36/tire with "roadforce" balancing and mount.......sounds about right?
