Default Cracked track bar bracket?

Started as a quick L. wheel bearing check (wobble try), while I was bent over I looked at bracket, as it caught my eye.

Had clean cloths so didn't inspect further.
Will do so tomorrow while investigating a squeek. Wheel brg/U-joint.?

If it's cracked, will a weld suffice until new bracket arrives?

Which is the best value for bracket?

2000 XJ, 4.5 RC, 31s
does very little wheeling.

Also, as to weld, aren't you supposed to drill hole at end of crack before weld? If so, what size hole?

Thanks!!

And dont tell me to search, did several on site, and one thru Google

Whelp, I'll pull it in gar, let it warm up a bit, check the squeek out and check back for a possible clue.

Stock bracket. Was wondering what is "best" aftermarket bracket, if needed.

This caveman no do pictures, lucky I can turn on computer.

Researching "welding on cars" leads to more opinions than facts. One result even dragged Franklin and Tesla into the discussion.

Going with the safe/sorry on battery disco. Ground close to weld.

Still haven't found any info on size of hole at end of crack.

Just a small hole to eliminate the stress riser.

Disconnecting ground is ample security. I've done quick 30 second weld jobs with out disconnecting the ground with no problems also, but probably shouldn't do that.

Guess I need glasses
Had Larry look at it, just a mark from the manufacturing process, had identical mark on rear side of bracket.

Squeek is double U-joint on front d-shaft saying it's about ready to take a dump.
