Default Couple of 3" Lift Questions

Okay, first off, I apologize if these questions have been answered before, but whenever I try a search, it directs me to eBay.

I'm going to buy a lift kit for my 2001 XJ. Specifically, I'm looking at the Rough Country 3" lift that includes the coil springs, add-a-leafs, shocks and hardware. $258 for a lift doesn't sound too bad.

Now I don't plan on any hardcore wheeling with the Jeep. I just want it to sit a little higher because I always bang my head on the lift gate and would like to see a little more air between the top of the tires and the fenders. I'm not dead set on any particular tire size as of yet, but I might go for 30 or 31" tires. Saw some 265 70R 16 tires that looked great, which is about a 31x10.50 or so. The current tires I have are 235 70R 16, which is about a 29" tall tire. And at stock height, it fills in the wheel wells a little more than I care for.

So, with regards to this lift, and considering I'm not going to be doing much more than trail riding (99%) on road, do I really need the kit with lower control arms, or can I get away with the stock ones? Does the rear sag once the lift settles when using the AAL instead of springs? I took the picture above with the camera grid guide leveled on the hubs so I could get an accurate photo of how the rear sits. It's pretty level, with the rear sitting ever so slightly higher than the front.

Since I'm only going 3", an adjustable track bar and drop pitman arm are not necessary, correct? I only ask because all my research seems to point to this conclusion. I needed an adjustable drag link and drop pitman arm on my Ramcharger, but that was 6" over stock. But I'm still new to Jeeps. The tech is similar but not similar, if you get my drift.

Any help is very appreciated.

Thank you!

For a basic 3" no new control arms are needed(but would ride better). My brother has had his RC 3" basic for half a year and it hasn't sagged, yet. No track bar is needed too. Whatever the kit gives you should be fine.
