I have an 88, and I have gone through a couple of bottles. The closed works just fine once all of the air is out, however with the closed system getting ALL of the air out can be a b****. I've found that parking face down on a steep hill with the cap off the bottle and let it run for about 20 minutes works the best. I considered converting to open. But I thought that making sure my closed system is operating the way it was designed to, was easier than re-engineering the cooling system. Just my $.02...

you don't have to re-engineer anything. its pretty simple. look up bleepinjeep on youtube. he has a really good multi part video in high definition on the entire swap. He also tells you the parts you need. You can buy it all brand new for fairly cheap.

Last one I did we used a newer radiator, 91 and newer. They are almost the same size so they fit fine. Maybe .25" difference. Plugged off the hose to the bottle and put in an overflow bottle and pretty much done.

I took the bottle and heater valve from a 94. Got a inline cap from rock auto for a dodge durango, cant remember what year that was for, but if you look on the site at different years you'll find it. Took the bracket for the old bottle out and put the newer one in its place with home made bracket. Works great!
