Default Control. Arms

Hey, does anyone know what the control arms are called that you can pop off super easy with a pin. It's like so you can flex. Also do you know if you need new control arms if you are putting a 3in lift on a stock 1999 jeep Cherokee xj

They are not control arms. They are sway bar quick disconnects. As far as control arms, I would at least get longer fixed arms if you don't want to spend on adjustables.

Like Martlor13 said, you are describing sway bar disconnects.

Some say you don't have to use aftermarket lower control arms for 3" and some say it can't be done without.
In my opinion, you should install lower control arms and an adjustable trackbar for 3".
Without adding those items to the lift, there really isn't much need for the disconnects as you won't have much flex.
The ball socket of the stock track bar will stop the axle from flexing downward, and the factory control arms hit the shock mounts stopping it from flexing downward.

Add lower control arms with a bend in them and an aftermarket trackbar to get some decent axle articulation in stock form.

What lift are you wanting to install?

I was thinking a 3in rough country lift. My friend told me they were control arms so I naturally assumed that's what they were, so thank you

Think again haha. Avoid rough country and go with zone, rustys, iron rock, or rubicon express.

That's exactly why I asked which lift you wanted.
Most people on this planet want that lift because of price.
Zone offroad is better quality for $35 more if you're doing add-a-leaf.

I recommend a kit with complete new leaf springs, but if you can't afford them, atleast do add-a-leafs.

Another good kit to look at is at ironrockoffroad.Com
http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/10436.html
They are offering free shipping only till the first of the year.

Rustys has a very good 3" full leaf/coil lift with shocks and hardware included all made in NA for about $500. Do it right the first time and be done with it cost wise this pkg is a lot of bang for the buck.

You will an an adj. track bar also with any kit, control arms are optional I ran stock ones for over a yr. till I up graded them.
