Complete GC rear end on XJ
Im planning on replacing my rear end after I get my taxes back because it is grinding when I press the throttle. I have a stock dana 30 I believe. I would also like to upgrade my rear brakes to disc brakes. Grand Cherokee rear brakes work on cherokees as long as its off the same rear end correct? So does that mean that a GC rear end will work on a Cherokee? I mean, if I can just replace the whole thing AND get the disc brakes all at once I would much rather do that.

Grand cherokees are 4 linked in the rear, I believe the width is the same but you would have to fab leaf spring mounts. And probably shock tabs. And I believe gears are different in the v8 models. But as long as you pull the rear disks off a gc with a dana 35 rear end it will swap onto your d35.

u either have a dana 35 or chrysler 8.25 dana 30 is up front...u can convert disc brakes off of a GC on either one...but u do no that a GC rear end is set up for coil spring and a XJ is set up for leaf springs so u would have to cut and weld all new brackets and for tha grinding noise it prolly tha spider gears which is very easy and cheap to replace

You will have to fabricate new mounts to swap in the GC rear. Just go to a junk yard and pull yourself a rear out of a Cherokee with the same gear ratio. It will be a direct bolt in on your jeep. I recently did this, but I upgraded from the D35 to an 8.25. I have pics and a write up in my build thread if ya wanna take a look
