Cold Air Intake Via Quarter Panel Scoop
Has anyone seen/done a cold air intake that runs through the quarter panel? I'm working through ways that I can install a CAI and clear the space from the old filter box without cutting through the firewall, installing a snorkel or a mushroom cap on the hood. Best idea to this point is to find or fab something like a scoop into the driver's side quarter panel. Haven't been able to find any examples of this though.

I think you'd have trouble fitting a filter in the panel so you'd still have to have one in the engine bay which wouldn't yield you much space as opposed to the stock airbox . Pretty interesting idea though.

Yeah you mean the front fender not quarter panel thats way in the back.If you go off road that would probably suck up water if you get it close enough to it.Best for you would be to use a cowl intake or cowl snorkel maybe.

As stated even water thrown from the front tire would enter the opening plus its a bit on the low side.

My concern with the cowl intake is noise. I'm going to be DD'ing my jeep for the foreseeable future.

Only "noisy" when you're on it, ain't no biggie.
You can always https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...efd9de750e.jpg |
If you have off road tires those will drown out any sucking sound the intake will make.

I recently bought a 90 XJ. First Jeep I've owned. It looks like the Valdez oil spill under the hood. I've fixed most of the leaks, now just need to clean up the mess. How do you go about degreasing the engine bay? I've heard about pressure washing it, but don't want to kill my lawn.
