Default Coil Spring Failure - Root cause?

I've got a Rubicon Express 3.5" lift kit and have discovered that both my coil springs are 'splitting' like a banana at the bottom. I'm wondering if anyone knows what might be the root cause of this so I can keep it from re-occurring.

Below is an image of what my springs look like:

Thanks

Have you tried to contact RE or the company you bought the coils from?

not yet. Plan to on Monday. I was just hoping someone else has run across this. There is another thread on the forum where someone mentioned a 'broken coil' but no root cause was mentioned and I couldn't tell from the picture if it was the same type of failure.

I'd assume it's a defect. I've seen a few have chunks break off the ends from stress over time, but never split like that. Just don't try to weld it back together, the heat will greatly weaken the structural integrity of the spring.

Weld it and put a sleeve around it and weld that in place?

Why dredge up a thread from years ago? You've already got your thread started and adding to this one isn't going to make easy for people to follow this one or your thread.
Thanks

Really? You want this guy to apply enough heat to melt steel to a coil spring?

Are you sure that's good advise?

I was only thinking of a temp fix, can't hurt to close off the split until he can change them if it's his DD. I'm just saying what I would do if I was in a situation as my jeep is my DD

Worst thing to ever do is weld on spring steel. Brittle much?
