Default Clutch Fan upgrade

I have a question....I have read many times that you can replace the stock fan clutch with an electric fan straight out of a taurus. But I am finding very few around me and I assume these people know they are popular becuase they arent as cheap as I would think they are. Anyways my question is has anyone used any of the universal ones off of ebay> they have many to choose from. From 7 inch to 16 inch I found. They look like they would work well. I was thinking of trying the bigger fan....12-16 inch. Any one try em yet? I have searched a bit but no luck. I really want to know if these ones here on ebay are worth it.

Anyone? I'm hoping someone has experience with these fans. But just the other day I kid I work with might sell or trade in his 95 Taurus he drives every day and buy a 5 speed accord that got traded in here at Toyota. Told him before he does anything I want the electric fan. So hopefully I can snag it....

Taurus fan is stronger than the eBay fan, and has a shroud

I got my taurus fan off of ebay and it was brand new. After i got it all hooked up i tried the hi setting and the fan completely blew out the dirt in my engine bay and blinded the 3-4 people standing around it, I couldnt stop laughing but these fans move alot of air

This is the single most dollar per Horse power upgrade you could do to your engine. I highly recommend the taurus fan over any other fan due to acquiring one for little money at the junkyard. Installing it takes patience and persistance but WELL worth the effort. Dont waiste your time and money on the ebay kock-offs. If you need assistance with the wiring part just PM me and I can hook you up.

Some would argue that the extra load on the alternator kills the extra horsepower gained by ditching the belt driven fan. But I would be willing to do the swap though.

It would help on the highway though, maybe not offroad when the motors runnin hot, but when air is blowing through the radiator at highway speed, it would be of benifit probably not only from more power but better economy as well. I too wish to do this mod, but have not found a jy around here with a taurus yet. Also if you have an upgraded alternator then the extra load should not matter, as you still have plenty of amps left that the alternator is just dumping nowhere.

Sweet thanks for the info. Hopefully I can pick that fan up here soon. I know I need a new battery....well will soon. The sticker on the battery says 07. So its due. And ill buy a new alternate too. One that puts out more. I know I read on here that there is one that will fit with a little grinding. So that's what ill do.

I think I read somewhere that you can still get that taurus fan from a parts store. I could be mistaken though.
