Default Clocking a 241OR

Was able to find a brand new 241or from a TJ that was removed at the vehicles purchase.
Case is already wired up for XJ electric harness, factory balancer/cv flange on the rear, front yoke has been swapped to a 1350 yoke

Currently running a NV3550 out of a TJ and boostwerks shift linkage. I am worried about fitment in the trans tunnel so I would like to clock the case.
I have read a few swap threads and most people are using factory XJ transmissions. Looking to get some advice on possible issues.
Links to decent clocking rings vs the cheap ebay ones, advice on parts to swap while the case is still out would be greatly appreciated.

I'd see if it fits without clocking and if it doesn't fit I used an IRO clocking ring to tuck mine up

My goal is to keep the case above the unibody rails, I know others have had to massage the floor. Ill check out the iro ring. Thanks.

I read your original post incorrectly. I thought you were clocking it down to fit. Wrangler transmissions are already clocked higher than Cherokee transmissions from the factory. I'm not sure if you really can clock it because the holes may be too close on the tailhousing of the transmission if that makes sense.

My worry is that it will be clocked too much into the floor and I would need the ring to bring it out of the floor a bit. Not sure what you mean by the holes are too close together. My other worry is that the input shaft doesn't engage enough with the ring installed.

Because you would be clocking it the other way around and bring the new 6 holes closer to 6 old holes. In fact some of them may overlap and become slots.

When you clock up on XJ transmissions, then the new holes are further away from old holes.

At least that's what I understood from his post

the IRO ring does not stay installed when you put it back together . it is basicly just a jig to drill new holes to mount your case to

From the original post I assumed you meant the case was too large to fit with the wrangler transmission. I assumed you wanted to use the ring to clock it down so it would fit. Then I realized you wanted to clock it higher. The IRO clocking jig is just used to drill new holes. I am afraid that the new holes drilled will be very close to the old holes or even possibly turn them into slots.

Dont worry about clocking it if your trans is out of a TJ. You just have to cut off an ear thats on the t-case and slightly massage the under body in one area. Other then that, it will fit fine.

Not a NV trans but I would assume its nearly the same size as an AX.

What ear would i be cutting off because the 241or is definitely bigger than the 231 in your picture?

Shoot I did skip over the 241 part haha. But it looks like it has the same ear as the 231. In the picture you posted, you can see them all the way at the top. Looks like 2 rectangles sticking up. That should be the area of concern
